The Do's
-
Wash them
routinely to ensure the best visual experience.
-
Use a cleaning
solution made for eyeglasses, like eco-friendly
KleerSpex, or lotion-free dish soap and water.
-
Use a micro-fiber cleaning cloth
made for glasses. In a pinch, a soft, clean cotton
t-shirt is OK.
-
Store glasses
in their hard case. We have a client who drove over her
glasses. The hard case was ruined, but after an
adjustment, the glasses were fine!
-
Wear a strap
around your neck if participating in sporty activities.
-
Get routine
adjustments from your optician, who will ensure the
screws are tight to reduce the chances of a lens falling
out.

The Don'ts
-
Don't
dry-clean your lenses; that is, don't wipe off dirt
instead of washing off dirt.
-
Don't use a
paper towel or napkin, which can scratch the lens
coatings.
-
Don't use
window cleaner. This contains chemicals that can
harm the lens coatings.
-
Don't use
fabric softener when washing your glass-cleaning cloths;
this leaves a residue that interferes with cleaning your
eyeglasses.
-
Don't expose
them to extreme temperatures, like on the car dashboard.
Plastic frames are especially sensitive to warping if
left sitting in the sunlight.
-
Don't take off
drill-mounts eyeglasses (the kind with no frame around
the lens) with one hand. This can stress and crack
the lenses.
