Tamara's Contact Lens Story

(A real customer experience)

"Wow," she said, "this is amazing! No one has ever done that for me. I'm so glad I walked in here!"

Tamara came into my office looking for new glasses. She knew she needed a really nice pair and a backup pair. After finding something that complimented her face and eyes beautifully, we sat down and discussed her prescription needs in more depth. She showed me two prescriptions, one for glasses and one for contact lenses. She said to me while holding her contact lens prescription, "I also need more contacts, but I really haven't been very happy with the kind I'm wearing." We talked about the trouble she was having, and I told Tamara about our Contact Lens Forgetless Program.

What we do is help our contact lens wearers to keep their eyes healthy by calling them when they should be due to order more lenses. This serves a couple purposes. First, it is a reminder that it is time to reorder, so that our clients do not run out unexpectedly and have to scramble for more at an inconvenient time. Second, if there are still unused contacts, it is possibly a sign of over-wearing them which puts the eyes at risk. When I offered to call Tamara when her current supply of contacts was due to run out, she was thrilled, because she often forgets to reorder on time.

Tamara came in a week later to meet with the doctor and try some different contacts. We found something far more comfortable than what she had been wearing. I also set her up in our Contact Lens Forgetless Program. Tamara helped me see the value of providing this extra service for our customers.

If you would like a reminder when your supply of contacts is due to run out, simply give us a call or send an email.  Email and phone numbers here.

Contacts and Children

A recent survey of optometrists revealed some interesting statistics about children and contacts:

  • 91% consider a child's interest and motivation level as the most important factor when considering whether a child is a suitable candidate for contacts.
  • 39% say that parents requesting contacts for their children do so because the child refuses to wear glasses.
  • 71% feel that overnight wear of contacts is not appropriate for children.
