MarVal Optical has opened its doors on West Broad Street in Bethlehem.
Valerie Robert, optician said it is her first solo venture after being in the
optical field since she began working part-time in her mother's optical practice
at the age of 15.
Robert said after working at various chains and private practices in
California, Alaska, Virginia and Pennsylvania over the past 20 years, she
thought she had learned what worked and what didn't work in running such a
business and was ready to open her own shop.
As an optician, her specialty is in making and fitting eyeglasses. She
has an ophthalmologist, Joe Kavchok, M.D., coming in part time to see patients
and write prescriptions.
Robert said she plans to focus on eyewear that she thinks has exceptional
quality and style, offering mid-to-high-end frames and specializing in European
brands that are hard to find in the Lehigh Valley.
She said she chose the brands she offers after researching what sort of
brands were being sold at the high-end boutique optical shops that "cater to the
stars" and from the experience she's had with working with the designers in the
past.
Among the brands she carries are Jimmy Choo glasses and her favorite, Urband,
a French designer.
MarVal Optical is located at 83 W. Broad St., Bethlehem. More
